Signage and Wayfinding for Darin — a historic pearl-trading port on Tarout Island, one of the oldest inhabited places in the Gulf, where five thousand years of settlement gather around Darin Castle and the shore. For a site this dispersed and this varied — recreational, historical and cultural at once — Lucid developed the complete orientation and signage strategy.
It is built on a zoned, multi-centric model of spatial orientation: rather than rely on one central landmark, the system works through several smaller local centres, each anchoring its own zone, layered so that guidance moves from the general to the specific — from island-wide landmarks down to the focal points of each quarter. A gradation of importance keeps the key messages legible and the space free of clutter, with designated thematic trails threading the heritage together. Orientation before signs; hierarchy before volume.
